"New Ways Ministry provides a gay-positive ministry of advocacy and justice for lesbian and gay Catholics and reconciliation within the larger Christian and civil communities.Through research, publication and education about homosexuality, we foster dialogue among groups and individuals, identify and combat personal and structural homophobia, work for changes in attitudes and promote the acceptance of gay and lesbian people as full and equal members of church and society." The LGBT Religious Archives Network "The LGBT Religious Archives Network (LGBT-RAN) is an innovative venture in developing archives and encouraging historical study of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) religious movements. We serve as a resource for LGBT religious leaders and groups in determining how to preserve their historical records. We then provide an information clearinghouse for these archival collections in a central electronic directory for the use of historians, researchers and other interested persons." Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach The members of the Chicago Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach have as their mission to "create a sense of community for those who wish to reconcile their sexual orientation with their faith; provide an accepting and affirming atmosphere in which to worship in the Catholic tradition; provide opportunities for integration of personal experience through spiritual growth; share [their] distinctive gifts with each other and the Church at large, and witness [their] Catholic faith to the gay and lesbian community." "Dignity/Chicago is a local chapter of DignityUSA, the nation's foremost and largest organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Catholics, their families and friends." It is "a faith-based community in the Roman Catholic tradition, centered on the celebration of the Eucharist, independent of, but in occasional dialogue with, Catholic bishops" "Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.
